With the emerging understanding that a work of literature can never be perfectly adapted as a media production, many academics are moving towards examining how adaptations reflect the values of the era and location that created the new version versus the source material. But are fans ready to embrace this approach to viewing changes made when a favorite story is presented in a new way?
